I offer experience and services in the following areas:

SPECIAL EDUCATION

Assessment, advice and support provided to 

  • parents.
  • educators. 
  • teachers.
  • families who have, or work with, children and adults who have special needs.


The term "special" covers a wide range of educational abilities and disabilities such as:

  • deafness.
  • speech or language impairment.
  • physical disability or delay.
  • intellectual ability.
  • intellectual disability.
  • emotional disturbance.
  • behavioural difficulties.
  • multiple disabilities.
  • multiple abilities.


SPECIFIC LEARNING DIFFICULTIES

Some students who have average or above-average cognitive development might have specific learning difficulties, especially in literacy areas. These can be assessed and a current Evidential Report provided to parents, RTLBs, teachers, SENCOs, under “Special Assessment Conditions” (SACs). Such a report can enable access to support for the student in examinations, in the form of reader/writer help, additional time, rest breaks, use of high and/or low level technology, etc.

AUTISM

Assessment and diagnosis of autism spectrum disorders.

Parents who are concerned their children displaying:

  • impaired ability to make friends with peers.
  • impaired ability to initiate or sustain a conversation with others.
  • absence or impairment of imaginative and social play.
  • stereotyped, repetitive, or unusual use of language.
  • restricted patterns of interest that are abnormal in intensity or focus.
  • preoccupation with certain objects or subjects.
  • inflexible adherence to specific routines or rituals.


BEHAVIOUR MANAGEMENT

Helping parents, teachers, and carers to guide children into appropriate behaviours in a range of situations.

  • Helping parents to cope with day-to-day life — to provide routines and habits that help children to understand boundaries and the ways to behave in various situations.
  • Helping teachers to establish guidelines and routines in the classroom and school, facilitating learning for all.
  • I am able to help parents, teachers, and care-givers by assessing and analysing their current situations and practices, to help to find alternative methods and habits that will overcome difficulties.


INTELLECTUAL ASSESSMENT

Providing intellectual assessment to assist with providing appropriate learning for children and adults.

At school or pre-school and at home:

  • Is your child bored?
  • Is your child regularly misbehaving?
  • Is your child finding learning difficult or too easy?
  • Is your child struggling with some subjects?
  • What is your child good at?
  • What things does your child have difficulty with?
  • Could your child be gifted and/or talented?


PARENTING

Parenting can be difficult, especially early on in a child’s infancy. The establishment of routines such as sleeping and feeding can be problematical and parents often need extra help with these. 

I can provide parents with practical solutions.

I can help parents to guide their children into appropriate ways of behaving in various situations. I can help parents to cope with day-to-day life, and help them by suggesting routines and habits that will help their children to understand boundaries, and the ways to behave in various situations.
